At the bird reserve at the back of Spanish Water you can encounter a variety of water birds. Some of these water birds include the brown pelican, American sandpipers, small yellow-legged martins, and the beautiful frigatebirds, called “makwaku” in Papiamento.

Along the coast of Spanish Water, various mountains can be seen, including Kabrietenberg. “Kabriet” means ‘goat’ in Papiamento, and this mountain is 78 meters high. This mountain can also be climbed.
Another mountain that is clearly visible from Spanish Water is Table Mountain, located to the east near Santa Barbara Beach. The mountain is named for its large flat top, which is scraped off for building material. Table Mountain is 196 meters high and easily visible from a Tiki boat.
